Séverine DesLions

French visual artist Séverine DesLions, born in 1972, makes use of bright colors and cartoonish characters to touch on prickly issues and oftentimes alarming situations. Having studied at Ecole des Beaux Arts of Tours, Séverine manages to cast an air of optimism in treating troubling themes including climate change, global disasters, and conflicts in general. She manages to portray a universal outlook on life, unafraid to face these global threats in a whimsical and yet frightening cartoonish style. Her disenchanted vision is also expressed by a free line and acid tones on top of a palette of extreme primary colors. War, injustice and impending doom have never looked so beautiful!
